Our client, a large-scale industrial manufacturing facility, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to ensure a safe and compliant working environment in Indianapolis, Indiana, US. This critical role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive EHS programs to protect employees, the environment, and company assets. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessment, safety protocols, and environmental stewardship within an industrial setting. You will be responsible for conducting regular safety audits, developing and delivering training programs, investigating incidents, and ensuring adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal EHS standards. This position requires a proactive and hands-on approach, working closely with all levels of management and operational staff to foster a strong safety culture. The Senior EHS Specialist will also manage hazardous waste disposal, air and water quality monitoring, and emergency preparedness plans. Your ability to identify potential hazards, implement effective control measures, and promote continuous improvement in EHS performance will be paramount. Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs. Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions. Develop and deliver EHS training to employees at all levels. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Manage hazardous waste programs, including storage, transportation, and disposal. Oversee environmental monitoring programs (e.g., air emissions, water discharge). Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills. Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Stay current with EHS best practices, regulations, and industry trends. Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies. Advise management on EHS risks and provide recommendations for mitigation. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting. In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety program development. Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various departments. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is highly desirable. Proficiency in EHS management software is a plus.
