Job Description

ALLWEST Testing & Engineering is hiring an Environmental Field Technician for a remote construction project in Central Idaho. The role involves stormwater and water quality monitoring, inspections, and documentation. This rotational position requires independent work in remote areas and offers camp housing and meals. The job is full-time during the construction season, with a salary of $30-$36 per hour. Candidates should have relevant stormwater experience and strong documentation skills.
ALLWEST is a 100% employee-owned geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and special inspections firm serving the Inland Northwest and beyond. We have offices located in Hayden, Lewiston and Meridian, Idaho; Missoula, Montana; and Spokane and Tri-Cities, Washington.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to support stormwater, water quality and environmental compliance efforts for a large heavy-civil construction project in remote Central Idaho. This is a remote project and anticipated to be a rotational position working approximately 2-3 weeks on and one week off during the construction season (late April through early November, weather permitting), with camp housing and meals provided. This project is expected to span for approximately three years.

General Responsibilities

The Environmental Field Technician is responsible for:

Conducting SWPPP and BMP inspectionsPerforming stormwater sampling and water quality monitoring (pH, turbidity, conductivity)Maintaining accurate field logs, inspection reports and digital documentationCoordinating with project environmental leads to support regulatory compliance during constructionWork independently in remote terrain during active construction operations

Requirements

CESCL or equivalentConstruction stormwater experienceDemonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision in remote field environmentsStrong documentation skills
Other Preferred Certifications:

Mine or large civil construction project experienceEnvironmental sampling experienceCross trained in construction materials testingMSHA New Miner Training (part 46)
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Positive, team-oriented attitude with a customer service mindset.Effective verbal and written communications abilities.Strong attention to detail and time management skills.Self-motivated and dependable, with strong judgment and accountability when working aloneValid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.Comfortable using computers and mobile devices such as a tablet to record field data.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and maneuver up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
