Placements24 is hiring a Senior Agronomist in Boise, ID, to develop and implement sustainable farming practices. The role involves advising growers, managing research trials, and creating region-specific crop management strategies. Candidates should have a Master's or Ph.D. in a related field and at least 5 years of experience. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with field experience. This position requires regular fieldwork and is not remote.
Our client, a leader in innovative agricultural solutions, is seeking a Senior Agronomist to join their team and focus on developing and implementing sustainable farming practices. This role is crucial for advancing our client's commitment to environmental stewardship and optimizing crop yields through cutting-edge agronomic research and field application. You will be instrumental in advising growers, managing research trials, and contributing to the development of region-specific crop management strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of soil science, plant physiology, pest management, and modern agricultural technologies, coupled with a passion for sustainable agriculture. Responsibilities include:
Designing and executing field research trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and crop protection products. Analyzing soil and plant tissue samples to diagnose nutrient deficiencies and other crop health issues. Developing and recommending tailored crop management plans, including planting schedules, irrigation strategies, and fertilization programs. Providing technical expertise and guidance to farmers and agricultural stakeholders on best practices for sustainable cultivation. Monitoring crop health and environmental conditions, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies. Staying current with advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and environmental regulations. Collecting, interpreting, and reporting data from field trials and farm operations. Collaborating with R&D teams to integrate new findings into product development and extension services.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related field, with at least 5 years of progressive experience in agronomic research or crop consulting. A strong understanding of sustainable agriculture principles and practices is required. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to translate complex scientific information into practical recommendations for growers. Field experience and familiarity with agricultural software and data analysis tools are highly desirable. This role requires regular fieldwork and presence on farms within the region, based out of our operational hub in Boise, Idaho, US .
