Our client, a pioneering force in sustainable agriculture, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Agronomist & Crop Science Specialist to join our team in the vibrant agricultural hub of Los Angeles, California, US. This critical role involves overseeing research, development, and implementation of advanced agronomic practices to optimize crop yields, enhance soil health, and promote environmentally sound farming techniques. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of plant physiology, soil science, pest management, and innovative agricultural technologies.

Responsibilities:
Lead research initiatives focused on crop physiology, soil science, nutrient management, and sustainable farming practices relevant to regional agricultural needs. Develop and implement comprehensive crop management plans to maximize yield, quality, and resource efficiency for various agricultural operations. Oversee field trials and experimental plots, collecting and analyzing data on crop performance, soil conditions, and environmental impacts. Provide expert guidance and technical support to farm managers, growers, and agricultural stakeholders on best agronomic practices. Develop and manage integrated pest and disease management strategies, promoting biological and cultural control methods. Evaluate and recommend new seed varieties, fertilizers, soil amendments, and agricultural technologies for adoption. Monitor and analyze soil and water quality, developing strategies for conservation and efficient utilization. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable agricultural certifications. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, crop science, precision agriculture, and biotechnology. Mentor and train junior agronomists and field technicians. Collaborate with research institutions, government agencies, and industry partners on collaborative projects. Contribute to the development of educational materials and extension programs for the agricultural community.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a closely related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomy, crop production, agricultural research, or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in crop physiology, soil fertility, plant nutrition, pest and disease management, and water management. Proven experience in designing and conducting field research, data analysis, and interpretation. Strong understanding of sustainable and organic farming principles. Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS, VRT, remote sensing) is highly desirable. Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to finding innovative solutions. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed within the Los Angeles, California, US region.
