Job Description
Interwaste (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Site Manager for their Mooi Nooi branch in South Africa. The role involves managing waste operations, ensuring compliance with client contracts, overseeing staff and equipment, conducting inspections, and maintaining health and safety standards. Responsibilities include scheduling, reporting, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Site Manager must also handle personnel management, including discipline and grievances, following company policies.

Role Overview
Manage the entire waste management operation according to the contract SLA, client scope of work and work specification, whilst adhering and in total compliance of the company's standards and policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONS
Responsible for all staff and equipment on-site and ensure that the team.
Daily inspections to ensure that the standard of work of employees is of the highest standard as per the contract specification.
To ensure that attendance is checked daily at the beginning of each shift, ensuring labour allocation is correct and address any changes - act upon absenteeism and arrange for replacement.
To ensure the correct number of staff are placed on every shift - in line with contract SLA.
Manage the overtime of all staff.
Comply with all client policies.
Ensure that all agreed standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and controls are implemented and managed consistently and diligently.
Compile service and collection schedules.
To ensure adequate control over all equipment in accordance with the company's asset control policies and procedures and be totally responsible and accountable for all the company's vehicles, machinery and equipment.
Ensure that all plant and equipment are in good working order and legally compliant.
Manage all recyclable off-takes and ensure that regular audits are conducted to ensure legal compliance.
Manage the storage area and ensure that all waste received in the area is correctly handled, contained, labelled and scheduled for AFR, Beneficiation, or disposal in accordance with the SOP’s and prescribed legislation.
Attends agreed meetings with Clients on a regular and on-going basis.
Ensure that Accurate Detailed Reports are produced and presented in the agreed format on the given due date as required by the Client.
Report back to Interwaste Depot Manger on a weekly basis regarding waste collections and recycling targets.
Manage all campaign statistics and reports.
Manage all data capturing and paperwork for invoicing.
Liaising with Interwaste Depot Manager for supplies and Hazardous Waste collections.
Manage Safe Disposal Certificates.
To ensure constant customer satisfaction and good client contact and communication on a daily basis.
To promptly attend to daily messages and complaints.
General office administration and communication.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Compliance with all health & safety requirements in line with the company's OHS policies & procedures.
Work within the ISO14000 framework and other required by the Client.
Ensure all SHEQ policies and requirements are upheld and met.
Ensure SHEQ site file is implemented and maintained.
PERSON AIL MANAGEMENT
To be responsible for maintaining discipline by using the Company's disciplinary code and procedures, as well as attending to grievances.
To be responsible for all engagements, pay rate changes, dismissals and ensuring that the necessary documents.
To ensure that wage input is checked and signed off and are submitted monthly to the head of operations manager for authorization every month. The frequency of the submission of the wage schedules may alter at any time and this new frequency must then be followed.
Ensure that all staff members are adequately trained as per the SLA and OSHA requirements.
COMMUNICATION AND FEEDBACK
Ensure all your superiors are notified in a timely manner regarding aspects of your areas as deemed necessary by them.
Deal with personnel matters such as reporting incidents, customer complaints, requesting new employees, extension of contracts and terminations to your manager.
Ensure your manager is informed off all staff related matters that will affect the organisation in a dire manner immediately (e.g. IR).
FINANCE
Manage stock, e.g. complete requisitions for orders, know what stock is available; plan in advance to replace stock.
Reduce cost, lead time, waste and accidents.
Regulate staff costs.
No exceeding of labour budget to take place without the manager's authority and the necessary variation instruction raised.
MENTORSHIP AND SKILLS TRANSFERENCE
Ensure all subordinates and colleagues are up-skilled and ensure transference of skills through mentorship and coaching.
Provide training and guidance for new employees and ensure they are assisted.
ADHOC
Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management.
It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high workloads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Hazardous chemicals and their proper handling and usage.
Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to wastewater treatment and disposal.
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
Modern and complex principles and practices of laboratory sampling, testing and interpretation.
Purchasing practices and budget control.
Computer operations and waste treatment plant operations software.
Basic accounting principles and practices.
Accepted safety practices and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 [Std10] or Equivalent
3 - 5 Years experience in a similar role
