Ascentech Services Ltd is seeking an ESG Officer in Anambra, Nigeria, to support the development and monitoring of Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives. JOB OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE The ESG Officer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across its operations. The role ensures that the organization operates in a sustainable, socially responsible, and compliant manner, with particular focus on environmental management, employee and community welfare, and adherence to regulatory and ethical standards within the agricultural sector.


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the implementation of ESG strategy and sustainability initiatives.Monitor environmental, social, and governance compliance across farm operations.Track ESG metrics and prepare periodic reports.Promote responsible business practices across all departments.Support stakeholder engagement on sustainability and compliance matters.
DETAILED ACTIVITIES
Environmental Management
Monitor environmental practices across farm operations (waste management, water usage, emissions, and resource efficiency).Support the implementation of environmentally sustainable farming practices.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.Conduct periodic environmental audits and inspections.Track and report environmental performance indicators.
Social Responsibility & Community Engagement
Support initiatives that promote employee welfare, health, and safety in collaboration with HR and HSE teams.Coordinate community engagement activities and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.Monitor workplace practices to ensure fairness, inclusion, and compliance with labor standards.Support programs that enhance employee well-being and engagement.
Governance, Compliance & Ethics
Monitor adherence to internal policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.Support the implementation of corporate governance practices across the organization.Assist in developing and updating ESG-related policies and procedures.Track compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.Support internal audits and compliance reviews.
ESG Reporting & Documentation
Collect and analyze ESG-related data across departments.Prepare periodic ESG reports for management and stakeholders.Maintain proper documentation of ESG initiatives, policies, and compliance records.Track ESG KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Awareness & Capacity Building
Support awareness campaigns on sustainability, ethics, and responsible business practices.Provide basic guidance to departments on ESG-related expectations.Assist in organizing training sessions on ESG and compliance topics.
REPORTING AND ANALYSIS
Prepare monthly and quarterly ESG performance reports.Track compliance metrics and highlight potential risks or gaps.Maintain records of environmental audits, inspections, and corrective actions.Provide insights to management on areas for improvement in sustainability and compliance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Sustainability, Social Sciences, or a related field.Additional training or certification in ESG, Sustainability, HSE, or Compliance is an advantage.Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in ESG, sustainability, HSE, compliance, or a related role.Experience within agriculture, manufacturing, or operational environments is an advantage.Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
