Position Summary

The Director of Development and Strategic Initiatives is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving revenue growth and enhancing CTE's market presence through strategic business development, fundraising, and sales efforts. This position leads the organization's grant application strategy, private fundraising endeavors, and internal business development programs.

This role is instrumental in identifying and securing new funding opportunities, nurturing client and member relationships, and developing internal capabilities that ensure sustainable revenue growth. As part of the Strategic Team, you will play a crucial role in establishing CTE's long-term success.

You will also manage and enhance CTE's Market Lead Program, aimed at developing target markets, generating new revenue streams, and deepening CTE's insights into customers, suppliers, technologies, and funding opportunities across key sectors. Additionally, you will lead the creation of internal sales training programs and provide structured opportunities for staff engagement in business development.

This position seeks a highly strategic and focused leader who excels at engaging with clients, partners, and funders while building internal systems that enhance CTE's business development capabilities.

Responsibilities

Lead CTE's comprehensive business development strategy across all revenue streams, promoting diversification and growth of the organization's funding portfolio.Identify, pursue, and secure new funding opportunities across federal, state, local, and private sources, including foundation partnerships and philanthropic programs.Cultivate and steward strong relationships with clients, partners, members, and key industry stakeholders.Travel regularly to represent CTE at conferences and industry events, enhancing organizational visibility and generating new opportunities.Collaborate with technical experts and the Communications Team to create compelling development materials showcasing CTE's expertise, capabilities, and impact across multiple formats.Oversee the Grants Team, responsible for identifying and submitting public funding opportunities.Design and implement a structured program to build organization-wide business development capabilities, including training and opportunities for staff engagement.Market Lead Program Oversight

Manage and enhance CTE's Market Lead Program to support targeted market development and revenue generation.Guide Market Leads in identifying customers, suppliers, technologies, and funding sources, uncovering strategic opportunities within each market.Ensure departmental alignment in market research, outreach, proposal development, and communications efforts.Monitor program performance, track leads, and ensure deliverables are achieved.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, or a related field.A minimum of 10 years experience in business development, sales, fundraising, or a similar field.Proven success in generating significant revenue through diverse funding streams, including grants and partnerships.Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.Strong skills in relationship-building and stakeholder engagement.Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.Ability to travel 25-35% for client meetings, industry events, and partner engagement.Legally eligible to work in the United States.Preferred Qualifications

Experience with consulting, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.Experience in managing federal or state grant programs or proposal development.Background in private fundraising, foundation relations, or philanthropic program management.Familiarity with clean transportation, energy, infrastructure, or related technical industries.Experience in developing sales training programs or internal business development initiatives.Skills in market analysis, strategic growth planning, or program development.Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM tools for tracking and managing business development efforts.Advanced degree in business, public policy, or a related field.Salary Range
