Assistant Director, SUTD Sustainable Futures Centre (Contract)

The Assistant Director for the SUTD Sustainable Futures Centre will support its growth by collaborating with faculty, stakeholders, and industry partners to drive sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include developing relationships, securing funding, managing projects, and providing administrative support. Candidates should have a relevant degree, extensive experience in sustainability, and strong interpersonal skills. This position is full-time and based in Singapore.
About SUTD Sustainable Futures Centre The SUTD Sustainable Futures Centre is a centre of excellence for sustainability covering all of SUTD. Its mission is to Advance Critical Planetary Design, leveraging the strengths of SUTD in design, AI, and innovation to address the existential challenges of climate and other sustainability issues facing the world. It focuses on accelerating decarbonisation across cities and buildings, technologies, innovation, policies, economies and taking into account human behaviour and non-human needs.


Our interdisciplinary team supports public and private sector clients with rigorous research, data-driven insights, and practical solutions that translate science into real-world impact. We value collaboration, curiosity, and clarity in delivering high-quality outcomes that advance climate goals.What You'll Do The Assistant Director will support the development and growth of the Sustainable Futures Centre at SUTD. The successful candidate will work closely with SUTD faculty and researchers in driving the education, research and test bedding agenda for the centre.


The candidate is expected to work closely with donors, government agencies, industry/companies and SUTD faculty in identifying opportunities for collaboration, create programmes/platforms to drive impactful outcomes, and to support the entire collaboration process.Roles and Responsibilities Have an in-depth knowledge of sustainability and its progress in the world. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the key stakeholders in the Singapore public sector and industry partners. Develop and maintain strong relationships with private sector companies and their leaders with a strong sustainability focus.


Identify, seed, develop and promote project funding and collaboration opportunities, including shaping, developing and securing funding for large programmes (Centres of Excellence). Lead and drive ecosystem development by building strong networks with partners and industry that can support the collaborations. Work closely with SUTD faculty and researchers on all matters pertaining to collaboration projects, including but not limited to pitching, agreement and contract negotiations.


Manage and monitor projects and budget. Provide administrative and secretariat support.Who We Are Looking For A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree. At least ten years in one of more of these roles, with some experience in leadership positions: business development, account management, programme/project management, research management.


Extensive knowledge of the sustainability sector in Singapore; a good knowledge of the global sustainability sector would be advantageous. Strong understanding of research agreements and contracts; some knowledge of intellectual property management will be useful. Excellent writing and presentation skills.


Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with university leadership, faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders. Able to work independently and in teams.
