Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural enterprise dedicated to sustainable farming practices, is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Agronomist to join their team. This hands-on role is located in the heart of Florida's agricultural region, Jacksonville, Florida , and requires a strong on-site presence to work directly with growers and manage field operations. The Agronomist will be responsible for developing and implementing crop management plans to optimize yield, quality, and sustainability. This includes conducting soil analysis, recommending appropriate fertilizers and pest control strategies, advising on irrigation techniques, and monitoring crop health throughout the growing season. You will work closely with farmers to implement best practices in soil health, water management, and biodiversity conservation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of plant physiology, soil science, entomology, and plant pathology. Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis is highly desirable. Responsibilities also include staying abreast of the latest research in agronomy and sustainable agriculture, educating growers on new techniques, and contributing to the company's commitment to environmental stewardship. Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive crop management plans for various agricultural operations. Conduct soil testing and analysis to assess nutrient levels and recommend fertilization programs. Advise on pest, disease, and weed management strategies, promoting integrated pest management (IPM). Monitor crop growth, health, and yield, identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions. Provide guidance on irrigation scheduling and water management techniques. Educate growers on best practices for soil health, conservation, and sustainable farming. Evaluate and recommend new agricultural technologies and practices. Collect and analyze field data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes. Maintain records of crop performance, treatments, and environmental conditions. Stay current with agricultural research, regulations, and industry trends. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agronomy or crop management. Strong knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management. Experience with soil testing, crop monitoring, and data analysis. Familiarity with sustainable agriculture practices and technologies. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field setting.
