Senior Waterways and Wetlands Advisor

The London Wildlife Trust is seeking a Senior Waterways and Wetlands Advisor to lead projects in river and wetland restoration. This full-time role, based in London with hybrid working options, involves project design, collaboration on catchment partnerships, and sharing expertise in freshwater ecology. The position offers a salary of £39,326 and includes benefits like 25 days annual leave and flexible working arrangements.
Salary: £39,326
Tenure: Fixed-term contract ending 31st March 2029 with potential for extension
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Location: London Wildlife Trust offices in Victoria, Central London as well as regular visits to project sites and reserves.

Role & Responsibilities
Looking for a role where you can deliver meaningful nature recovery projects in London’s rivers and wetlands?


We’re looking for a Senior Waterways and Wetlands Advisor to join London Wildlife Trust’s Nature Recovery team. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Projects, you’ll lead the Trust’s work in waterways and wetlands restoration. You will be able to develop and deliver projects, such as ‘rewiggling’ of rivers, which will leave a lasting legacy as part of a wilder city.


You will:

Lead on river and wetland projects on Trust reserves and third-party land, steering each project through design, permissions and delivery.
Maintain an active and collaborative working environment as co-chair the Marsh Dykes and Thamesmead Catchment Partnership, working closely with our co-hosts to push forward the new Catchment Plan.
Represent the Trust on catchment partnerships where the Trust has active projects, and at River Partnerships in London (RiPL) meetings.
Contribute your expertise to the development and delivery of river and wetland restoration within the Trust’s large scale rewilding programmes.
Share your knowledge and skills in freshwater ecology and restoration across the team, including support for the Keeping it Wild traineeship.
