Business Development Senior Associate Renewable Energy Development | Philippines Job Purpose A renewable energy client is seeking a motivated Business Development Senior Associate to join its Philippines team. This role is ideal for professionals who have built their careers in electrical engineering, power systems, grid interconnection, project engineering, or other technical functions and are looking to transition into renewable energy project development and business development. The position provides hands-on exposure to the full renewable energy development cycle, including project origination, land and stakeholder engagement, permitting, project evaluation, and early-stage project structuring. The successful candidate will leverage their technical foundation to help identify, evaluate, and advance renewable energy opportunities while developing broader commercial and project development capabilities. Responsibilities Assignments include, but are not limited to: Support the identification and evaluation of new renewable energy project opportunities Conduct site screening, technical assessments, and preliminary feasibility analyses Participate in stakeholder engagement activities with landowners, local government units (LGUs), national agencies, utilities, and project partners Support land acquisition and permitting activities throughout project development Coordinate with internal engineering, environmental, legal, and commercial teams Assist in project structuring, business case preparation, and investment evaluation Prepare development reports, presentations, project documentation, and approval materials Participate in site visits, technical due diligence, and commercial discussions Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impacts on project opportunities Support cross-functional coordination to advance projects toward execution Required Qualifications (Must Have) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 3-8 years of professional experience in power, renewable energy, utilities, transmission, distribution, EPC, or infrastructure sectors Experience in technical engineering, project engineering, grid connection, design, construction management, or related functions Strong understanding of power systems and renewable energy project fundamentals Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Fluent in English (written and spoken) Demonstrated interest in transitioning from technical roles into project development or business development Willingness to travel and engage directly with stakeholders and project sites Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Exposure to renewable energy project development activities Experience working with solar, wind, battery energy storage, transmission, or power generation projects Understanding of Philippine energy regulations and permitting processes Experience interacting with utilities, DOE, ERC, NGCP, DENR, LGUs, contractors, or project partners Financial modeling, project evaluation, or investment analysis experience Familiarity with GIS tools, Google Earth, AutoCAD, MS Project, or related technical software Professional Engineer (PEE/REE) qualification is an advantage What We Look For An engineer who wants to broaden their career into commercial and development functions Strong ownership mindset and willingness to take initiative Ability to connect technical knowledge with business decision-making Curiosity to learn project development, permitting, stakeholder management, and commercial aspects of renewable energy Practical problem-solving skills and comfort working both in the field and in the office Ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders and work effectively across technical and commercial teams Passion for accelerating the energy transition in the Philippines
