High-Voltage Energy Storage Commissioning Specialist

Westinghouse Electric is seeking a High-Voltage Energy Storage Commissioning Specialist in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves commissioning and maintaining battery energy storage systems, ensuring peak performance, and responding to grid demands. Build, energize, and optimize grid-scale storage
Join a team that keeps renewable power flowing. As a High-Voltage Energy Storage Commissioning Specialist, you will bring battery energy storage systems online, maintain them at peak performance, and respond decisively when the grid calls.


Your first 90 days

Master site safety protocols aligned with OSHA and NFPA 70E; qualify for energized work where required.
Commission BESS subsystems—batteries, inverters, transformers, EMS—and validate function against OEM specs.
Build confidence with documentation flows: service reports, maintenance logs, incident forms.
Learn site SCADA/monitoring tools to track KPIs and triage alarms.

Core responsibilities

Install, start up, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain BESS components and all balance-of-system equipment.
Use schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals to resolve electrical, mechanical, and control issues.
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in line with OEM and site procedures.
Respond to alarms, faults, and outages to restore availability and minimize downtime.
Support upgrades, retrofits, and warranty work; collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and vendors.
Travel to multiple project locations; rotate through on-call/emergency response duties.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; additional technical/trade training preferred.
2+ years in electrical, power generation, renewables, or energy storage.
Fluency in DC systems, three-phase AC, and control circuitry; adept at reading single-line diagrams and schematics.
Proven safe work around high-voltage equipment.
Proficient with meters, insulation testers, and laptop-based interfaces.
Background in BESS, solar PV, or wind; knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and thermal management.
Comfort with SCADA/monitoring platforms and data analysis.
Certifications such as NFPA 70E and OSHA 10/30 are a plus.
Sungrow PT1, PT2 experience.

Physical and schedule expectations

Lift up to 50 lbs.; climb ladders/stairs as needed.
Travel regularly; work flexible hours, including nights/weekends.
