Automotive Production Technician

HRU-Tech is hiring Automotive Production Technicians for a 12-month contract at a manufacturing plant in Gray Court, SC. Candidate Requirements:

Job Location:
This role will be based at a major manufacturing plant in Gray Court, SC that produces transmissions for a variety of vehicles.

Compensation:
$28.00/hr to start for 1st and 2nd shift openings. 3rd shift is $30.00/hr ($28.00/hr + $2.00/hr shift premium). Overtime is 1.5x over 40 hours. Double time will be paid (2.0x) if working on a Sunday (this won't be common).

Benefits:
• Available (medical, dental, 401k, vision, etc) – benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
• No PTO is provided during the contract period (you are paid only for the hours worked). However, upon transitioning to a direct hire, you will receive extensive PTO.

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a global service provider to the automotive and component supply industry. We are looking to hire multiple Automotive Production Technicians to work on site at a major manufacturing plant in Gray Court, SC. This role supports transmission assembly, disassembly, diagnostics, and repairs on various vehicle models. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of mechanical experience (such as experience as an automotive technician, diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar) to ensure you can learn quickly and succeed in this role. Experience with vehicle transmissions, including repair, rebuilds, and diagnostics is preferred (but not required). We are hiring on multiple shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and repair vehicle transmission systems, including automatic, manual, CVT, and dual-clutch transmissions.
• Conduct transmission rebuilds, fluid flushes, and replacements as needed.
• Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic tools to identify issues in transmission components.
• Disassemble and reassemble transmissions for inspection, repair, or replacement.
• Conduct road tests to verify repairs and ensure proper vehicle functionality.
• Work with OEM procedures, service manuals, and technical bulletins to ensure correct repair methods.
• Perform quality checks and document all repairs following industry and company standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, service teams, and quality control personnel to address complex transmission concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Experience: 3+ years of mechanical experience (such as experience as an automotive technician, diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar) to ensure you can learn quickly and succeed in this role. Experience with vehicle transmissions, including repair, rebuilds, and diagnostics is preferred (but not required).
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in automotive repair preferred.
• Certifications: ASE Certification in Automatic and Manual Transmissions is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of transmission systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy components, work in various positions, and operate tools and machinery safely.
• Other: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment / Other Info:
• We have openings on multiple shifts. 1st Shift - 6:30am-2:45pm; 2nd Shift - 2:30pm-10:45pm; 3rd Shift - 10:30pm-6:45am. The standard schedule consists of 6 days per week, Monday through Saturday.
• For any hours worked during the week (Monday – Saturday) exceeding 40 hours, you will be paid 1.5x for overtime. Due to the schedule, there will be regular overtime. You may occasionally be asked to work on Sundays, and in those cases, you will be paid double time (2.0x).
• You will get an unpaid 30-minute lunch plus a paid 15 minute coffee break.
