At Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) we are looking for a System engineer!

📝 Rquirements:
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 3+ years of experience (or a Bachelors degree with 5+ years) focused on power conversion and power systems.
- Proficiency in analog and digital control theory as well as stability analysis.
- Experience with real-time digital control prototyping using Typhoon, Speedgoat, or similar hardware implementations.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and testing power conversion for AC/DC and DC/DC converters.
- Skilled in using Matlab/Simulink/Simscape for analyzing and simulating power systems and converters.
- Familiarity with circuit analysis tools like SABER or SPICE.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings or testing at various sites.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance, with eventual eligibility for a Secret clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.

👩‍💻👨‍💻 Your responsibilities are:
- Investigate and develop innovative technologies for power systems and subsystems through collaboration with industry, academia, and government.
- Create advanced prototypes and breadboards to support conceptual designs and trade assessments.
- Carry out requirements trade-off analyses and validate the feasibility of requirements, recommending technical solutions to meet sponsor needs.
- Develop, analyze, and review power system designs and concepts.
- Enhance power systems modeling and simulation tools to improve effectiveness.
- Provide expertise in power systems during system integration and performance evaluations at both land-based test sites and aboard Navy vessels.
