Job Description
The Environmental Graphics Designer at Johns Hopkins APL will lead design projects for signage, wayfinding, and branding. Responsibilities include creating innovative designs, managing multiple projects, collaborating with teams, and mentoring junior staff. Candidates should have a degree in Graphic or Environmental Design, project management skills, and proficiency in design software. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain security clearance are required. This is a full-time position based in Maryland.
Lead the design and development of environmental graphics projects, including signage, wayfinding, branding, and experiential design
Create compelling and innovative design concepts that meet client needs and communicate brand identity
Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and within budget
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and goals to deliver high-quality design solutions
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and production staff
Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in environmental graphics design
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, or a related field
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
Needs light to moderate fabrication experience AND working knowledge of fabrication materials (wood, glass, plexi, metal, etc.)
Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and AutoCAD
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and solutions to clients and team members
Ability to lead and mentor junior designers and production staff
Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional design solutions
Are able to obtain Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
