Job Description
CT.GOV is seeking a Hydrologist II in Dover, DE, to support the Water Supply Assessment & Protection Section. Responsibilities include analyzing data, reviewing applications, conducting assessments, and public outreach. Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in Geology or Hydrology and relevant experience. The position allows for telework and flexible schedules according to Delaware's policy. Two positions are available: one full-time and one limited-term.
Introduction The division regulates large water withdrawals, provides data on well permits and advises on Water Conservation and Water Supply Coordination.\r\n\r\n\r\nClick here for more information about the Division of Water - Commercial and Government Services Section.\r\n\r\n Summary Statement These positions serve to support the Water Supply Assessment & Protection Section of the Commercial and Government Services Section within DNREC's Division of Water. Both positions will provide technical expertise needed to protect and promote the use of the state's groundwater resources. These positions will interact with the public, consultants, municipalities, agricultural cooperators, and other members of the regulated community. Responsibilities include reviewing/analyzing analytical data, review applications, conducting assessments and investigations, and maintaining databases, and public outreach.\r\n Career Ladder Upon satisfactory completion of department promotional standards and job requirements, employees may be eligible to be promoted to the next level.\r\n Essential Functions Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. \r\n\r\nCollects, analyzes, and interprets field samples, scientific literature and statistical data. \r\nSupervises and documents the installation of wells; inspects and compiles data regarding existing wells, waste disposal sites, and underground storage facilities. \r\nSummarizes data used in studies, projects, plans, specifications and research. \r\nPerforms mathematical calculations to aid in the selection of alternatives. \r\nReviews and comments on permit applications. \r\nProvides technical and regulatory information. Job Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Hydrologist II \r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Geology, Hydrology, or related field. \r\n Six months experience in hydrogeology and stratigraphy. \r\n Six months experience in collecting hydrologic field data such as geologic descriptions, water levels and water samples. \r\n Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. \r\n Six months experience in technical report writing. \r\n Knowledge of analyzing and interpreting hydrogeologic data and making technical recommendations. \r\n\r\n Additional Posting Information Two positions are available.
