Job Description

McLennan Design is seeking a Designer III in Bainbridge Island, WA, to work on innovative, sustainable design projects. The role involves contributing to design success, developing creative solutions, coordinating project drawings, and supporting team growth. Candidates should have advanced design knowledge, proficiency in relevant software, and a Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field. The ideal candidate should have passion, commitment and enthusiasm for these broad concerns and be equally capable of exploring them.As a Designer III on the team, you will:Demonstrate advanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.Develop creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.Coordinate drawings for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.Analyze product research and identifies material selections.Take an active role in crafting client and non-client design presentation sand prepares corresponding materials.Implements a creative approach to complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely, and consistent way.Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.Support growth of others.Express curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.Take increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.Participate in design reviews, charettes and pin-ups.Keep open and proactive communication with all and is inspiring within team and designated team leader.Coordinate effectively with partners and consultants.ProficienciesBIMBuilding codesSite analysisPreliminary design studiesContract documentsField measurementsLife safety requirementsSpecificationsConstruction contract administrationGraphic storytellingSketchingSoftwareAdvanced knowledge of 2D/3D production softwareAdvanced RevitConceptual modeling tools such as Rhino and GrasshopperMicrosoft Office / Adobe SuiteVisualization tools such as Enscape and VRayPhysical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cuttingPresentation tools such as InDesign and PhotoshopEnvironmental Analysis software such Ladybug and Climate StudioTo join us as a Designer III, you should have:LEED GA within 6 months of hireProfessional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD ,or ILFI Living Future AccreditationPreparing for ARE and active involvement in AXPBachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline requiredWe foster a culture that is diverse and inclusive and strive for pay practices that are fair, competitive and reflect our commitment to pay equity.
