This full-time role involves designing PV systems for new construction commercial and multifamily projects across California. Description:
We are currently looking for a Commercial Solar Designer to excel on our growing New Construction Solar Team! The Commercial Solar Designer will design PV systems for our new construction commercial and multifamily housing projects throughout California. Projects will range in size from 20kW – 2MW. Working closely with internal stakeholders in various departments, the Jr. Commercial Solar Designer will be responsible for managing the designs for projects from pre-bid stage through interconnection.
Responsibilities Design and draft PV and ESS plan sets Verify Title 24 (T24) compliance Coordinate with internal teams, General Contractors, Architects, Engineers and other consultants to design commercial and multi-family PV systems on new construction buildings Work with building and utility departments to understand requirements for PV systems based on construction type Manage all design revisions related to their projects Respond to building department plan check comments quickly and accurately Review PV designs with construction department/installation crew Respond to requests for more information (both internal and external) Attend bi-weekly meetings with Design and Construction departments to review job statuses Compensation and Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision Free basic life insurance Section 125 Flexible Spending Account (health and dependent care) Section 125 HSA (Health Savings Account) Employee Assistance Program 401(k) plus company match Personal Time Off, Sick and Holidays Requirements Proficient in reading construction plans for new commercial and residential (including multifamily) buildings Experience using AutoCAD to design new construction commercial and residential (including multi-family) PV systems Knowledge of solar equipment: panels, inverters, racking, batteries, etc. Experience designing 3 phase electrical systems (208V/480V) Experience designing VNEM (Virtual Net Metering) systems Experience designing commercial ESS systems for TOU arbitrage and/or battery backup Experience designing PV systems on flat and pitch roofs Experience working with building departments and responding to plan check comments Familiar with NEC and local building codes for commercial and residential buildings (both State and City/County levels) Familiar with new construction design process Familiar with Title 24 solar requirements Familiar with different forms of interconnection (supply side and load side) Strong communication skills to coordinate with architect, electrical engineer, electrician, and field crew through completion of design and construction Proficient in Microsoft programs and AutoCAD Salary Description
$31.25 - $36.06/hr
