Job Description
Toptal is seeking a Technical Lead for a renewable energy client to design and develop cloud-based systems for Plant Process Controller updates and data management. Key responsibilities include architecting data pipelines, ensuring system reliability, and developing APIs. Candidates should have deep coding skills, experience in renewable energy, and cloud architecture expertise. The role is fully remote, requires a 40-hour work commitment, and may lead to full-time employment.

For the Client which is a well-known business in the renewable energy industry, we are looking to hire a senior person to lead the design and development of cloud-based systems for managing Plant Process Controller (PPC) updates, reporting, and data storage. The role requires ensuring reliable communication with the in-plant systems and integrating with the Farsight analytics platform.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement cloud infrastructure for PPC status reporting, updates, and onboarding.
• Architect data pipelines for real-time and historical data from the PPC to the Farsight system using MQTT.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of cloud components.
• Collaborate with the in-plant technical lead to optimize data exchange and system performance.
• Develop APIs and services for system management and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
• Deep coding skills
• Proven experience in the energy domain (preferably renewable energy systems)
• Expertise in MQTT and real-time data pipelines
• Experience in cloud architecture and development (AWS, Azure, or similar)
Engagement highlights:
• The project is expected to last up to 3 months. However, this engagement might turn into full-time employment with the Client.
• A work commitment of 40 hours per week is required, with a 4-hour overlap with CET.
• Fully remote role.
