Job Description
Join Oracle as a Senior Principal Energy Procurement Manager, reporting directly to the Vice President of Infrastructure Capacity and Planning. In this pivotal role, you will lead Oracle's energy procurement initiatives, driving innovation in energy sourcing, hedging strategies, and sustainability efforts across Oracle Cloud data centers. We are dedicated to achieving 100% carbon-free electricity for our operational facilities and Oracle Custom AI Data Centers by 2035, including our large AI clusters tailored for specific clients.
Responsibilities
Negotiate strategic energy agreements with utility providers and independent power producers to secure optimal outcomes for Oracle.
Oversee Oracle Cloud's energy strategy across designated markets, prioritizing U.S. deregulated markets while potentially expanding to North and South America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.
Develop and manage energy sourcing requirements, utilizing your expertise in regulated and deregulated power markets, financial modeling, RFP management, and contract negotiations.
Collaborate with retail energy providers and internal stakeholders to monitor market conditions, informing both short-term and long-term transactional decisions.
Engage consultants to enhance energy strategy and sustainability reporting.
Monitor energy markets, utilities, IPPs, and grid conditions to recommend proactive strategies for Oracle.
Build and maintain cross-functional relationships within Oracle, including teams in capacity planning, data center operations, and corporate sustainability.
Coordinate onsite energy solutions, ensuring seamless power delivery across various technologies, including utility grids and renewables.
Work with finance to develop annual energy budgets aligned with Oracle's footprint and evolving energy prices.
Support the energy delivery process for new data center sites, focusing on:
Understanding necessary electricity supply equipment.
Comprehending utility tariffs.
Contracting energy supply.
Financial modeling and RFP management.
Onboarding suppliers into Oracle's systems.
Monitoring market conditions for informed negotiations.
Helping with RFPs for consultant and contractor services.
Understanding utility rates and tariff structures.
Qualifications
Passion for the fast-paced world of AI/GPU computing and large-scale data center environments.
10-15 years of professional experience, with 6-10 years in corporate power procurement or utility/IPP power origination, preferably within a large, matrixed organization.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, STEM, or business with a focus on energy and data center knowledge.
In-depth knowledge of regulated and deregulated energy markets, energy supply agreements, and power purchase agreements.
Experience with market exposure management and mark-to-market accounting.
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and carbon reduction initiatives.
Proven track record in developing energy budgets and collaborating with finance teams on energy cost projections.
Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and energy rate analysis.
Strong communication skills, executive presence, and negotiation experience.
Availability to support global operations and travel as necessary.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years of experience with utility interconnection and transmission planning.
Experience in renewable energy strategies including green tariffs and virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs).
Expertise in data center energy strategy development and execution.
Understanding of gas supply options and their implications.
Familiarity with onsite energy technologies and their integration with data center requirements.

Compensation and Benefits:
US Salary Range: $109,200 - $223,400 with potential for bonus and stock options. Oracle offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, and generous paid time off policies.
