Job Description
Liberty Tire Recycling is seeking a Sustainability Manager to develop and execute its sustainability strategy. This role involves leading company-wide initiatives, engaging various departments, and driving sustainability priorities. The candidate must have experience in ESG reporting and the ability to influence and communicate effectively. Responsibilities include managing sustainability reporting, data collection, and advanced sustainability projects. The position is based in Sanford, NC, indicating it is not remote.

Job Summary
The Sustainability Program Manager will lead the development and execution of the company’s sustainability strategy, driving engagement across operations, sales, procurement, and leadership. This role is a builder and connector—someone who can translate sustainability into business value, create momentum across teams, and stand up programs that deliver measurable impact.
While ESG reporting and an understanding of how to respond to external frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD) are required, success in this role depends on the ability to influence, communicate, and drive action across the organization.
Program Leadership & Engagement
Build and lead company-wide sustainability initiatives that engage operations, sales, procurement, and leadershipDrive adoption of sustainability priorities across sites and functionsIdentify and launch high-impact initiatives (cost savings, revenue enablement, circularity, etc.)Partner with internal teams to embed sustainability into day-to-day decision-makingCreate clear, compelling messaging that connects sustainability to business outcomesDuties and Responsibilities
Lead development of sustainability reporting as a tool to communicate progress and drive internal alignment – translating sustainability performance into executive-level and investor-ready messaging.Define sustainability data requirements, standards, ownership, timelines, and sequencing; lead annual data‑collection kickoff and follow‑upDraft and manage sustainability report content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company strategy and external frameworks such as GRI, SASB and TCFD.Manage annual sustainability datasets including utilities, waste, fuel, employee commuting, and environmental risk indicatorsPartner with external designers and consultants to develop report visuals and layouts; review drafts for clarity and accuracyLead advanced sustainability projects such as LCAs, EPDs, and materiality assessmentsDevelop energy‑efficiency strategies and ROI‑based recommendations informed by audit findingsLead annual supplier sustainability surveys in partnership with ProcurementSkills/Requirements
3 years of experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, or environmental data managementAbility to translate sustainability concepts into clear business value (cost, risk, revenue, customer impact)Self-starter who can build programs from the ground up with minimal oversightProven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive change in a business environmentWorking knowledge of GRI, SASB, TCFD, EcoVadis, and investor-ready ESG reporting EEO Statement:
