Our client, a prominent agricultural research and development company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Agronomist to join their team based in the heart of Los Angeles, California, US . This role is pivotal in advancing sustainable farming techniques, improving crop resilience, and enhancing overall agricultural productivity within large-scale farming operations. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of soil science, plant physiology, crop management, and a passion for implementing environmentally sound agricultural practices. You will work closely with farm managers and researchers to implement innovative solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability.

Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for diverse crops, focusing on sustainable and regenerative agriculture principles. Conduct soil sampling and analysis to determine nutrient needs, pH levels, and soil health indicators. Monitor crop development, identify potential issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, and recommend timely interventions. Evaluate the effectiveness of different fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments, prioritizing organic and environmentally friendly options. Research and introduce new crop varieties and farming technologies that enhance yield and resource efficiency. Provide expert advice and training to farm staff on best agronomic practices, IPM (Integrated Pest Management), and conservation techniques. Collect and analyze field data on crop performance, water usage, and environmental impact. Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners to stay at the forefront of agricultural innovation. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and sustainable farming certifications. Develop and manage budgets for agronomic inputs and experimental trials. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on field trials, crop performance, and sustainability initiatives. Oversee the implementation of irrigation strategies to optimize water usage. Promote practices that enhance biodiversity and soil carbon sequestration. Qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a closely related field. Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in agronomy, crop management, or agricultural research. Strong knowledge of soil chemistry, plant physiology, and pest/disease management. Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainable and organic farming practices. Familiarity with precision agriculture tools and techniques is a plus. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various farm sites.
