• Designs, develops, optimizes, and validates species-specific ddPCR assays for target organisms.
• Coordinates and conducts eDNA field surveys, including water sample collection, filtration, site documentation, and field data management in freshwater and marine environments.
• Performs laboratory processing and analysis of eDNA samples, including DNA extraction, ddPCR setup and analysis, quality control procedures, contamination mitigation, and quantitative data analysis (e.g., LOD/LOQ assessments).
• Maintains detailed laboratory notebooks, metadata records, and organized digital data systems to ensure research integrity, compliance, and reproducibility.
• Contributes to research dissemination activities, including preparation of grant reports, technical reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, presentations, and technical guidance to students or junior lab personnel as assigned.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management practices.
• Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork in variable environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain).
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Strong organizational, time management, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience designing and validating species-specific Digital Droplet PCR (ddPCR) assays; conducting environmental DNA (eDNA) field sampling and laboratory processing; and analyzing quantitative PCR (qPCR) or ddPCR datasets.
