Position Title: Health Safety Manager

Role Description

To ensure the continued development and maturity of Sodexo Safety Culture and Safe Behaviors by demonstrating safety leadership behaviors and embedding the Group 3 Checks for safety initiatives.

Ensure the implementation of the APAC Health and Safety Processes across all sites, to include Occupational health safety & environment management system. Adaption of APAC processes, where required, into Country / Local Processes to ensure legal compliance within country /area of responsibility.

The overall mission is to deliver safe and compliant work solutions for operations teams providing services. This will be achieved by operationally implementing APAC HSE systems and procedures and where required, identify any policy and or procedure gaps or omissions or variations required. Also assist in the development of HSE solutions specifically for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
• HSE processes implemented in accordance with Sodexo, client and applicable legal requirements
• Build relationships and work with our clients to add value to their business, retain existing accounts and develop additional opportunities.
• Work hand-in-hand with Operations team to provide assistance, expertise, and references to achieve Safety Improvement plans objectives.
• Foster the Sodexo culture in compliance with the Groups core values (service spirit, team spirit, spirit of progress) and its ethical principles (trust, respect for people, transparency, and business integrity).
• Provide support for bids and tenders, communicate and motivate safety at all levels.
• Create an environment that promotes integrity, transparency, trust and meritocracy.
• Conduct HSE review with region heads and highlight the major HSE gaps of respective segment.
• Report both food safety as well as work safety incidents in SALUS with proper RCA discussed with site team.
• Staff Training regarding basic safety practices in related with food as well as H & S for site employee during site visit/training.
• Support, Drive & execute country Safety improvement plan for the ongoing financial year.
• Lead the technical and regulatory compliance expertise & support to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop Health & Safety Management System plan for newly mobilized sites.
• Conduct Risk assessment review of sites in the region & support for External party reviews.
• Support Country Electrical Authorization program & identify competent SPOC form sites & ensure participation.
• Assists with the implementation, maintenance, and updates of all HSE programs, policies, and procedure.
• Communicate the safety communications like safety alerts, quick shares with all sites and verify the same during site observation.
• To plan, co-ordinate and monitor HSE systems to avoid any incident / accident and ensure HSE legal compliance.
• To prepare annual HSE action plan for the region by considering the gaps emerging out of audits & inspections.
• Facilitate internal & External HSE training, awareness programs & knowledge transfer.
• Conducting Client and Operations HSE meetings.
• Influence others to promote proactive work place Health, Environment & safety management system.
• Plan, Conduct regular audits in health safety /Occupational Safety & environment within scope of Services at sites in the region, reporting and following up on the Non-Compliances.
• Ensure that safety standards are maintained and continually seek ways to improve safety standards.
• Establish relevant documentation and maintain records as per HSE needs.
• Implement APAC subcontractor management process.
• To Ensure Prequalification and Authorization of New Subcontractors through Sodexo.
• Build and maintain a good quality database using the available resources for all HSE team members, accountabilities and make available as & when required
• Provide written instructions of work methods outlining potential hazards and precautions, and ensure they are complied with.
• Ensure accident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with, and assist with accident investigations where appropriate.
• Ensure all employees and sub-contractors are suitably trained/competent to carry out the prescribed task and that the necessary licenses/certificates of competence are in force and appropriate.
• Ensure the Statutory Notices, the Safety Policy, Insurance Certificate and the names of Appointed First Aiders are displayed and maintained in prominent locations.
• Schedule Work Safety Certification and Induction for new joins.
• Coordinate with Ops Team Managers for HSE campaign rollouts, evaluation and tracking.
• New Sites Mobilization Support to Business Development and Operations for sites across region & segments
• Develop HSE Interface Development and discussion with Client.
• Follow up for Mobilization Plan & ensure Due diligence of sites prior of mobilization. Ensure Compliance.
• Client Meeting and Assessment for Bid process. Customer and Client Audit.
• Support Deployment & implementation of Company HSE campaign for safety improvement.
• HSE performance review with Segment Director and Regional Heads.
• Health & safety workshop/Training Supports. Induction of new Site Managers & Awareness Session/Training on Sodexo incident reporting portals & apps.
• Develop and maintain a strong rapport with employees at all levels
• Report all the Occupational Health and Safety related incidents, ensure all reported incidents are fully investigated and corrective actions completed.
• Deliver appropriate trainings to operational teams, site managers and other site employees
• Maintain all safety records, records & certificates as required under the ISO22000-2005 & HSE standards

Qualifications

Degree from an accredited institution in a health and safety related discipline that includes some formal safety component

At least 5 years of experience as leader or team member in

implementing safety systems, policies and procedures

changing a safety culture

developing and leading teams

safety auditing / inspecting

training

Excellent Communication Skills

The ability to liaise with various levels of management, clients and employees

The ability to identify areas for improvement

Strong ability to organize, analyses, interpret and take sustainable corrective action

Ability to work under pressure

Fluent English speaker; other languages is added advantage
