Blink Energy Services is seeking a Green Building & Energy Inspector I in Texas. This full-time position involves learning building codes, performing energy inspections, and diagnosing energy issues. After a 90-day probation, the work week reduces to four days. The role includes travel to various job sites and is mostly remote, with some in-person meetings for support. Position Overview

As a Green Building and Energy Inspector I, you will learn and understand key building types, codes, and how to perform basic energy inspections using company software. This will include learning how to spot common mistakes made by general contractors and subcontractors. You will also help with the testing and diagnosis of energy-related issues in buildings using company provided tools and equipment, such as blower door, duct blaster, thermal imaging, and flow hoods. You will report to the Director of Operations and company owners. There will be time for study and you will be expected to take and pass several different certifications to work toward completing inspections on your own.

A typical day will consist of 8 to 10 hours and working at multiple job sites throughout the day. Some days may be lighter in the field. On those days, you shall use the time to study and work with your manager on understanding the processes as well as assist with other office style work, as needed.

This position will require the ability to travel to out of area job sites as needed. Areas include Austin, San Antonio, Houston as well as far north, east and west of DFW (areas could expand in the future).

The first 90 day probationary period will be a 5 day work week. Once all required certifications are obtained and after the 90 days the work week will drop to 4 days.

As you develop in your role, you will be responsible for performing the inspections and energy testing on your own and with other team members. The position is mostly remote with dedicated days to meet in person for assistance with any problems or questions that may arise.

What you will learn while in this position:
• How building components work as a system
• How to effectively communicate with construction teams
• How to use a blower door to check building air infiltration
• How to use a duct blaster to check for HVAC duct leakage
• Using other testing equipment to check for deficiencies
• Common building practices and how they relate to energy efficiency
• The benefits of small incremental changes to building systems
• Installation requirements for different types of building components
• How to read, interpret, and apply code books
• How to read, interpret, and apply construction documents

Qualifications
• Must be able communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
• Must be able to achieve or currently hold IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) Residential building inspector certification
• Must be able to pass Rating Field Inspector (RFI) or Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification
• Must hold current & valid driver's license
• Excellent customer service/problem solving skills
• Have a clean driving record
• Be able to walk up and down stairs and climb ladders
• Be able to carry 50 or more pounds regularly
• Be comfortable in unconditioned buildings at all times of the year
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a bonus

Responsibilities
• Manage time to effectively run calls during normal business hours.
• Conduct a range of trade specific inspections on residential buildings and low-rise multifamily buildings.
• Perform commercial inspections under supervision of licensed Commercial Field Inspector.
• Be able to pass certification tests and keep up with Continuing Education.
• Prepare written and electronic reports.
• Issue notices of correction.
• Explain and interpret code and/or quality control regulations or requirements.
• Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations as they apply to inspections.
• Maintain effective customer relationships with clients and the public.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by your manager.
• There will be some office work (from home) but the role will primarily consist of field inspections with exposure to the elements on projects.
• Quality Assurance will be required on an ongoing basis by your manager.
