Sugar Hollow Solar is hiring a Field Service Technician I in Asheville, NC. This entry-level, field-based role involves maintaining and inspecting residential and commercial solar systems, including panel cleaning and safety adherence. Ideal candidates should have a technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to renewable energy. The position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and preferably some experience in related fields.

Based out of Asheville, NC, Sugar Hollow Solar offers energy solutions for homes, farms, small businesses and other commercial properties by designing and installing solar electric systems (rooftop or ground-mounted), battery backup systems and EV charger stations, as well as, systems maintenance.

Sugar Hollow Solar is hiring a brand new Field Service Technician I! The Field Service Technician I at Sugar Hollow Solar is an entry-level, field-based role supporting and maintaining the performance of residential and commercial solar systems through ongoing and preventative maintenance. This position performs panel cleaning, conducts visual inspections and communicates inspection findings to the service team for resolution. The technician adheres to all OSHA and company safety standards, including safe rooftop access and proper use of PPE, while completing assigned tasks on schedule. As a frontline representative, this role requires professionalism in all interactions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs routine cleaning of residential and commercial solar panels to maintain energy production and system efficiencyConducts visual inspections of solar arrays, racking, wiring and mounting systems, identifying any damage, debris, shading or wear on the equipment, documents early warning signs of system issues and communicates those findings and potential issues to the appropriate service team membersAdheres to all OSHA and Sugar Hollow Solar safety standards, including safe access and navigation of rooftops that includes all fall protection, PPE usage and general safe work practicesCompletes preventative maintenance tasks when directed and in accordance with service schedules and company standardsRepresents Sugar Hollow Solar at the highest level of professionalism when interacting with stakeholders, including residential customers, commercial site contacts and internal staffMaintains tools, equipment and service vehicles, ensuring vans are well stocked, safe and in good repair
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent-requiredValid driver's license with safe driving record-requiredMinimum of six-months experience with renewable energy, construction, roofing, electrical or general field work-preferred

Basic understanding of solar energy systems or a willingness to learn at an accelerated paceStrong attention to detailDesire to create quality work and the desire to growAbility to take direction and follow protocolStrong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to always follow safety procedures and standardized maintenance practicesExcellent communication skillsDependable and self-motivated, able to complete tasks, even with minimal supervisionGeneral familiarity with mobile apps or digital reporting toolsA team-oriented and strong work ethic mindset
