Position Summary
The Development Associate will report to the Development Lead and support the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including Solar PV, BESS, and emerging clean energy technologies, by providing technical, environmental, and project development support throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves conducting site feasibility assessments, environmental and permitting due diligence, policy and regulatory research, interconnection support, and preparing high-quality technical reports for clients.
Core Responsibilities
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ & ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ: Support the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects by performing technical, commercial, environmental, permitting, and regulatory due diligence. Prepare Detailed Due Diligence Reports, feasibility studies, fatal flaw assessments, and development risk analyses. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ & ๐ฆ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต: Conduct in-depth market research, site screening, and feasibility assessments to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends across the renewable energy, energy storage, and infrastructure sectors in North America.๐ฃ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ด๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐: Monitor federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, utility policies, interconnection requirements, incentive programs, and market developments. Assess their impact on project feasibility, schedule, commercial viability, and investment decisions.๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น & ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐: Assist in reviewing & preparing environmental studies, permitting requirements, agency regulations, and technical documentation related to wetlands, protected species, cultural resources, noise, glare, floodplains, stormwater, and other environmental constraints. Coordinate with environmental consultants and support permit strategy development. ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐น๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด & ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐บ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด: Apply a consulting mindset to analyze complex project challenges, synthesize large datasets, identify key risks and opportunities, and develop practical, data-driven solutions tailored to client objectives. ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Prepare high-quality technical reports, client presentations, executive summaries, and recommendation memos with clear, concise, and actionable insights suitable for developers, investors, lenders, and independent engineers. ๐๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐: Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements, respond to technical queries, present findings, and provide professional guidance throughout various stages of project development and due diligence. ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐-๐ณ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Work closely with engineering, automation, GIS, interconnection, finance, and permitting teams to deliver integrated project development solutions while ensuring quality, consistency, and timely execution. ๐๐ป๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป & ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, environmental regulations, energy markets, financial mechanisms, and best practices to continuously improve project delivery and consulting capabilities. ๐ค๐๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ & ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐
๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ: Ensure all deliverables meet the organization's quality standards by maintaining strong attention to detail, following established processes, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Education Requirements
B. Tech/M. Tech in Energy Technology/ Energy Systems/Renewable Energy
Technical Skills and Experience
Software Proficiency:
PVSystHelioscopeMS Office
Project Management:
Experience in managing design projects from conception to implementationAbility to coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders
Renewable Energy Systems:
Understanding of solar energy systems and their integration into existing infrastructure
Experience
At least 4 years of relevant experience in the Solar Sector. (Consultancy and Analyst experience is highly preferred).
Psychosocial Skills /Human Skills/Behavioural Skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Project Management experience a plus.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.Technical understanding of clean energy business processesExceptional verbal and writing communication skills with superiors, peers, partners, and other stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
