Position: Sustainable Food Processing Lead (KTP Associate) - 16860 OverviewEmployer: Brunel University of London – CEDPS/CSEF - RollagranolaAn exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated graduate or postgraduate to lead a strategic Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Brunel University of London and Rollagranola. This project focuses on reducing energy consumption, improving product quality, and developing innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient baking processes within a rapidly growing food business.Organisation and RoleCollege / Directorate: College of Engineering, Design & Physical SciencesLocation: Unit 1 Works Road, Letchworth, Herts, UKSalary: £42,000 – £45,000 per annum + £4,000 training budgetContract: Full-time, fixed term (26 months)Main ResponsibilitiesManaging a strategic, high-value project from concept through to implementationTranslating academic expertise into commercially viable solutionsDriving innovation in baking processes and energy efficiencyEngaging with stakeholders across both organisations, including production teams and senior managementReporting progress, presenting findings, and supporting strategic decision-makingThe role also offers valuable commercial exposure through engagement with clients and suppliers, as well as participation in international industry events and conferences.Candidate ProfileA First-Class or 2:1 Honours degree, MSc, or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Essential Skills and ExperienceStrong technical knowledge in Food science, Food processing, Engineering, Technology.Experience in experimental design and data analysisAbility to develop optimisation models (e.g., using ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar tools)Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.DesirableIndustrial experience in food manufacturing and operationsKnowledge of cereal processing and sustainabilityWe are particularly interested in candidates who are inquisitive, practical, and adaptable, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You should be comfortable working hands-on in a dynamic production environment, while maintaining a clear focus on project objectives and responding to new opportunities as they arise.This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact industrial innovation project at the interface of academia and industry.
