Department Overview:



The Corporate Sustainability team works to integrate PG&E’s sustainability commitment into the company’s business strategy across the “triple bottom line” of serving people, the planet, and California’s prosperity. With the support of PG&E’s Chief Sustainability Officer, the team works collaboratively to implement PG&E’s climate and environmental stewardship goals with a focus on better serving vulnerable communities throughout the energy transition; tell our story by measuring and communicating PG&E’s sustainability performance; identify, benchmark, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement within our business; and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including environmental and social justice and Native American Tribal communities, to guide and strengthen PG&E’s sustainability strategy.



Position Summary:



The successful candidate will serve as PG&E’s Assistant Tribal Liaison with Native American Tribal governments, communities, and organizations. The candidate will drive visible engagement and initiatives with Native American Tribal governments, communities, and organizations in support of PG&E’s operations and to support the development of sustainable, resilient communities. This includes working proactively to support Tribal engagement as part of PG&E’s regional service model, working in coordination with PG&E’s Tribal engagement team and enterprise-wide efforts to standardize and implement best practices to better address the needs of Native Americans. It also includes planning, outreach, and engagement for PG&E’s service delivery, infrastructure projects, customer programs, emergency operations support, and regulatory programs, while also pursuing strategic partnerships and opportunities.



The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Native American culture, tradition, and experiences. The individual will have strong stakeholder relationships with Native American Tribal governments and Tribal communities, demonstrated leadership and management skills and experience with Tribes, and knowledge and experience with industry best practices. The candidate will possess outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences and constituencies. The individual will possess strong research, organizational, and analytical skills and experience with tracking, reporting, and visual management of data and content. The individual will also be able to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and from conception to implementation. This position requires up to 15% travel.



This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within PG&E’s service area. Final work location will be determined between the hiring leader and successful candidate.



PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.



This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 



A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $126,000
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000





Job Responsibilities:

Support Tribal engagement for PG&E’s operations to minimize environmental and cultural impacts in coordination with the company’s regional service model, including proactive outreach, tracking progress, and resolving issues.Provide expert and strategic assistance to support customer program outreach and engagement for Native Americans, such as clean energy and low-income/income-qualified programs.Assist with strategy, planning, execution, and reporting for regulatory programs related to Native Americans, ranging from wildfire mitigation and emergency preparedness to decarbonization and climate resilience.Serve as a point of contact to assist with information flow between PG&E and Native American Tribal governments, communities, and organizations.Assist in training PG&E personnel on Native American considerations and cultural competence.Support the efforts of PG&E’s Environmental and Social Justice (ESJ) team to standardize and implement best practices to better address the needs of Native Americans as part of a companywide effort supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.Provide support during emergency operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Tribal governance, major Tribal issue resolution, Tribal education and training programming, or Tribal strategic policy development with federal agencies or Tribal councilsSeven years of relevant work experience in project management and working with Native American Tribal governments, communities and organizationsExperience in climate analysis and statisticsExperience in environmental management, or related

Desired Qualifications:



Master’s degree or other equivalent experienceMore than the minimum years of relevant work experience Demonstrated knowledge of Native American culture and tradition, specifically California Tribal history, as well as experience working with Tribal government leaders in PG&E’s service areaDemonstrated experience working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of the Interior, and/or similar regulatory bodiesDemonstrated experience with Native American historic preservation and cultural resourcesProficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPointPrior utility industry experience and knowledge of Community Wildfire Safety programmingPrior experience with emergency operations and management
