Job Description
The University of New Mexico is seeking a Sustainability Corps Member for a year-long, paid position requiring 10 hours per week. This role involves hands-on sustainability projects, leadership development, and collaboration with campus partners to advance sustainability goals. The UNM Sustainability Corps is your pathway to creating
measurable changes on campus while building career-ready skills.
This paid, year-long,
10-hour-per-week service learning program combines hands-on project
work, leadership development, and applied sustainability training. Corps
members work directly with the UNM Office of Sustainability and
campus partners to advance UNM’s Sustainability Strategic Plan and build a more
environmentally just, resilient campus community.

What You’ll Do
Corps members will
meaningfully contribute to UNM’s sustainability goals through a blend of
training, collaboration, and hands-on work. Throughout the program, you
will:
Participate in Structured
Training & Workshops
-Build sustainability literacy and learn
practical tools for project implementation, outreach, data tracking, and
behavior change.
-Attend regular professional development
sessions designed to prepare you for careers in sustainability and public
service.
Design & Implement
Sustainability Projects
Lead or support initiatives
related to:
-Waste reduction & circularity
-Sustainable food systems
-Water conservation
-Energy efficiency
-Environmental justice
Projects may involve research, event coordination, data analysis, program
design, or policy and operational recommendations.
Collaborate with Campus
Partners
-Work with students, faculty, staff, campus
programs, and operational units.
-Engage diverse departments and student
organizations to broaden participation and drive progress in key
sustainability areas.
Support Campus-wide Outreach
& Engagement Efforts
-Create communications materials
-Support tabling and volunteer
recruitment
-Coordinate and assist with
campus sustainability events
-Build awareness of campus sustainability
initiatives and resources
Track Impact & Evaluate
Outcomes
-Collect and analyze data to measure
project results
-Report progress
and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Develop Leadership &
Career-Ready Skills
