Role Location

The role would be office based in Bristol or London (or hybrid home/office based in either of these locations). Occasional travel may be required for specific project needs such as meetings.

With a proven track record of success, Logika Group has been involved with UK Government expert groups and European Commission working groups, provided expert evidence at Public Inquiries, and helped clients gain planning consent for thousands of projects.

The Role

Our work includes supporting clients in the transition to net zero and low carbon economies and we work with designers and engineers to ensure new development is resilient to future climate change impacts. We develop greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for a wide variety of projects and

developments, produce GHG and climate change assessments for EIA and planning, and advise on setting emission reduction targets. We develop climate-related strategies, undertake climate change risk assessments and provide technical, scientific, and socioeconomic advice, based on objective, impartial and evidence-based analysis of a climate change policy.

The successful candidate will support a wide range of on-going projects across sectors including residential, transport, energy, industry and government. You will have a client-facing role with responsibility in terms of managing project teams and project delivery. You will lead and contribute to the development of proposals for new work and for large and complex public and private sector tenders.

We are currently seeking a senior or principal grade consultant (approx. 5-8 years’ experience) but would consider more junior and senior roles for the right candidate.

Skills and experience we are looking for

Candidates will need to be able to work on their own and as part of a team, sharing responsibility for the management of both projects and staff.

Key Skills

Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in all or most of the following:
• An understanding of UK and international climate legislation and policy drivers.
• Experience of developing lifecycle GHG footprints and GHG assessment in accordance with published guidance (e.g. GHG Protocol, PAS 2080:2023, RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment, etc.).
• Experience in the technical management of carbon and climate change assessments.
• Knowledge and experience in decarbonisation and net zero plans.
• Knowledge and experience in climate risks, mitigation and adaptation.
• Understanding and experience of climate projections such as UKCP18 or other CMIP6 models.
• Track-record in the consultancy sector.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear and concise reports in English.
• High technical capability and ability to review and interpret data.
• Organisation, initiative, and the ability to plan your work and adhere to fixed deadlines.

Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate skills and expertise in some of the following desirable experience:
• Experience in using Life Cycle Assessment tools (e.g. LCA One Click, e-Tool LCD, Wrate, Open LCA).
• Experience in assessment of embodied carbon in buildings and infrastructure, using tools and resources such as EPDs, ICE 3.0 etc.
• Experience in development and application of science-based targets.
• Experience in corporate carbon accounting and reporting.
• Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
• Sector-specific experience (i.e. aviation, industry, energy).
• Knowledge of carbon markets, offsetting and renewable energy.
• Experience in sustainable and low-carbon design.
• Knowledge of ESG reporting, including an understanding of the TCFD recommendations.
• Understanding of impact assessment approaches and techniques including water risk, climate change, biodiversity.
• Experience integrating inputs from diverse disciplines.
• Published work in the climate change field.
• Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications:
• MSc or higher in an appropriate science or engineering-based discipline.
• Membership of relevant professional institutions.
