Job Description
JLL is seeking a Regional Sustainable Operations Manager to drive sustainability initiatives across their Americas portfolio. The role involves developing and managing energy and sustainability programs, meeting client objectives, and providing strategic guidance. Responsibilities include implementing energy reduction strategies, leveraging data for performance improvement, and collaborating with various stakeholders. The position is remote but may require occasional in-office presence depending on client needs.

At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning. In this role, you will work directly with one of our clients, implementing the sustainability program across the relevant Americas portfolio. The role will report into the JLL's Sustainable Operations organization and dotted-line report to JLL account leadership in a matrixed organization. Key role responsibilities include development, implementation, and management of the energy and sustainability management program that incorporates energy savings, carbon reduction, utilities cost management, and water and waste management. This position is remote, although may require periodic, in-office presence depending on client requirements.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and coordinate an energy reduction and sustainability management program that aligns with documented goals, targets, and objectives for the Americas portfolio under JLL's scope of services.

• Meet client energy reduction objectives and relevant key performance indicators and ensure processes for monitoring and measuring performance are transparent and reported.
,
• Provide strategic direction and guidance on ways to effectively and efficiently implement sustainability and energy reduction services that meet client expectations, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations, and the broader JLL Sustainability Platform.

• Provide expertise in building energy efficiencies, load shifting strategies, and decarbonization.
,
• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of all energy reduction activities and initiatives across the client real estate portfolio, including development of relevant tactical plans and activities.

• Leverage data (e.g., utilities data, building surveys, benchmarking reports, etc.) to support identification of energy conservation measures designed to improve energy and sustainability performance across the regional portfolio and building-level perspectives.

• Engage with JLL on-account leadership and facility managers as a key point of contact for the provision of wide-ranging operational advisory in relation to sustainable portfolio and building operations.

• Drive operational performance improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve energy and sustainability performance across client portfolio.

• Identify and manage energy and sustainability projects, including ROI and ROM evaluations, to achieve objectives.
,
• Work cross-functionally to achieve success with energy and sustainability initiatives aligned with the scope of work.

• Establish an Eco-Champions network across the portfolio, and the site-level, to drive implementation of site-level plans and initiatives in support of performance improvement opportunities.

• Serve as the primary contact for Sustainable Operations program status, updates, and achievements.
,
• Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.

• Keep current with relevant and applicable legislation that may impact the JLL managed portfolio.
,
• Collaborate with other Sustainable Operations team members to deliver holistic sustainability programs and a consistent approach to energy, water, and waste reduction, including best practice sharing, case study development, and opportunities identification.

• Demonstrate robust communication, driving innovation, integration of feedback to remove roadblocks, and leverage opportunities.
,
• Leverage client tools and applicable in-house JLL tools and processes for problem-solving and identify and secure alternative tools as needs arise.
Requirements
• University Degree (Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field)
,
• In-depth understanding of energy, water, and/or waste conservation measures
,
• In-depth understanding of greenhouse gas emission scopes, calculations, baselining, and reporting
,
• Experience benchmarking utility and sustainability data to identify improvement opportunities
,
• Strong project management skills - can prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic but remote setting
,
• Ability to simplify and explain the complex for non-subject matter experts to build consensus
,
• Builds rapport and maintains friendly, respectful relationships across the business and externally with stakeholders and clients
Nice-to-haves
• Familiar with corporate sustainability standards and commitments like Net Zero and Science Based Targets
,
• Knowledge of environmental reporting frameworks, ENERGY STAR Portfolio manager, and other common external disclosures like CDP or EcoVadis
,
• Technical understanding of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems
,
• Experience conducting site walkthroughs to find conservation measures (e.g. ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 audits)
,
• Can run financial calculations to support client decision making including IRR, simple payback, or NPV
,
• Comfortable generating utility budgets and forward projections of spend
,
• Familiarity with energy procurement processes and renewable energy options
,
• Proactive and can think ahead to anticipate client needs regarding market trends, data accuracy, research, and project management related technology
