Lammey + Giorgio is seeking a Project Designer - Sustainability in Philadelphia, PA, with 5-7 years of experience. The role involves leading sustainable design projects, collaborating with clients, utilizing advanced technology, and managing project coordination. Responsibilities include client engagement, strategic research, concept development, documentation, and mentoring junior staff. The position emphasizes innovative, environmentally responsible design and aims to create meaningful change in the built environment.

What You’ll Do
As a Project Designer - Sustainability, you’ll play a crucial role in driving projects forward while contributing innovative ideas and sustainable solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
• Client Leadership: Partner with clients to understand their goals, vision, and business objectives, translating them into exceptional design outcomes.
• Sustainability-Focused Design: Lead the development of creative, environmentally responsible design concepts that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
• Advanced Technology Application: Utilize tools like Revit, Enscape, and BIM Collaborate Pro to streamline processes and deliver immersive, high-impact client experiences.
• Project Management: Take on active coordination roles, ensuring seamless collaboration between teams and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
• Professional Growth: Elevate your career by mentoring junior staff, engaging in professional development opportunities, and contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Engagement
• Lead client meetings and discussions, serving as a trusted advisor to align their goals with project outcomes.
• Synthesize client feedback into actionable design strategies, working closely with senior leadership to maintain client satisfaction and achieve desired results.
2. Strategic Research & Sustainability
• Conduct detailed research into sustainable practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends to drive innovative solutions.
• Integrate sustainability strategies into all aspects of design, contributing to certifications like LEED, WELL, or Passive House (PHIUS) where applicable.
3. Advanced Concept Development
• Generate, refine, and present sophisticated design concepts that align with client objectives and industry best practices.
• Create compelling visualizations, including sketches, digital models, and presentation materials, to effectively communicate ideas.
4. Documentation & Presentation Leadership
• Oversee the preparation of high-quality architectural drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
• Develop and deliver impactful client presentations that highlight the project’s unique value proposition and design innovation.
5. Technology Utilization
• Employ advanced tools to streamline design workflows, including 3D modeling, rendering, and virtual presentations.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies to continuously improve efficiency and project outcomes.
6. Sustainability Integration
• Champion sustainability by driving environmentally responsible solutions and identifying opportunities for energy efficiency and cost savings.
• Lead efforts for sustainable certification processes, including LEED, WELL, PHIUS, or similar, ensuring the project’s environmental impact is minimized.
7. Mentorship & Leadership
• Guide junior team members, fostering their growth and ensuring alignment with the firm’s culture of innovation and design excellence.
• Collaborate with peers and senior team members to inspire creative solutions and maintain high standards across all projects.
8. Project Coordination
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors, to ensure seamless execution of projects.
• Assist in managing multiple simultaneous project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet client and internal expectations in a fast-paced environment.
Who You Are
We’re looking for an experienced designer ready to step into a leadership role, bringing their expertise and passion for innovation and sustainability to every project.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in architecture or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in architectural design, project development, and client engagement.
• Licensure preferred but not required.
• Certifications such as LEED, WELL, Passive House (PHIUS), or other sustainability-focused credentials are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in tools like Revit, Enscape, Grasshopper, and other cutting-edge design software.
• Demonstrated experience integrating sustainable practices into design solutions.
• Results oriented through innovative, practical visioning and creative problem solving.
• Confident and persuasive communication style with the ability to motivate and enroll the commitment of others.
• Self-assured leadership style with a willingness to delegate details.
• Ability to hold others accountable and maintaining adherence to deadlines.
