Job Description
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India is seeking a Product Sustainability professional in Bengaluru. Responsibilities include calculating carbon footprints, managing data, and collaborating on material validation. Tasks About MBRDI:
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), headquartered in Bengaluru with a satellite office in Pune, is the largest R&D center for Mercedes-Benz Group AG outside of Germany. Our mission is to drive innovation and excellence in automotive engineering, digitalization, and sustainable mobility solutions, shaping the future of mobility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Calculate carbon footprint and circularity (recycled content) for the overall vehicle
• Define targets and monitor carbon footprint and recycled material usage across the vehicle lifecycle
• Develop and implement automation tools to improve efficiency of carbon footprint calculation processes
• Manage IMDS data, ensuring data quality and performing regular checks
• Collaborate with product owners to collect and validate material data
• Support legal and certification requirements across global markets related to carbon footprint, recycled materials, and rare earth materials
• Assist team leadership in achieving organizational goals and take up additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
• Strong knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
• Proficiency in Python and Power BI for data analysis and automation
• Hands-on experience with MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.)
• Understanding of design, manufacturing processes, materials, data management, and release management
• Awareness of regulatory standards such as EPR, CBAM, and ELV
• Knowledge of vehicle components including BIW, powertrain, chassis, and battery systems
• Experience in release and documentation activities
• Project management experience with supplier interaction in product development
• Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in an intercultural environment
Qualifications Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E.) in Mechanical / Production / Automotive Engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Familiarity with tools such as Smaragd and Dialog (Mercedes-Benz tools)
• Knowledge of IMDS (International Material Data System)
• Basic knowledge of UG NX
• German language proficiency
