Peak Demand is seeking a Principal Engineer - Technical Advisory for solar and energy storage projects. This senior role involves providing expert advisory services, evaluating technical risks, and ensuring quality deliverables. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and over 12 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include mentoring staff, engaging with clients, and contributing to business development. The position offers a salary range of $150K to $175K plus bonuses.

The Principal Engineer will serve as a senior technical authority within the organization, providing independent advisory services on complex renewable energy projects. This individual will play a critical role in evaluating technical risk, guiding high‑stakes investment decisions, and ensuring the quality and consistency of advisory deliverables.


This position requires deep expertise across the full lifecycle of solar and energy storage assets, along with the ability to influence both internal standards and external client outcomes. The role also functions as a key escalation point for complex technical and commercial matters.


What You’ll Do

Act as the senior technical authority for complex advisory engagements, including due diligence, portfolio evaluations, and high‑risk project reviews
Establish and maintain technical standards, methodologies, and positions across advisory services
Review and approve technical reports, opinions, and deliverables for critical client engagements
Advise clients on complex issues related to system performance, technical risk, asset optimization, and lifecycle management
Provide expert guidance on repowering strategies, life extension, underperformance, and asset remediation
Support resolution of disputes, claims, and performance‑related challenges through expert technical insightEngage directly with investors, lenders, insurers, and asset owners to communicate technical risk and recommendations
Contribute to business development through client engagement, presentations, and thought leadership
Mentor and develop technical staff, helping elevate organizational expertise and consistency

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
12+ years of experience in solar, energy storage, or power infrastructure
Extensive experience in technical advisory, development, engineering, or operational roles with accountability for project outcomes
Strong expertise in system design, performance modeling, contracts, and lifecycle asset behavior
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and communicate complex technical risks to financial and executive stakeholders
Proven experience supporting project finance transactions, due diligence, or portfolio‑level assessments
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $150 - 175K + Bonus
