Job Description
ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant for Safety Transformation to lead enterprise-wide safety initiatives from various locations, including Nashville. The role involves designing and delivering EHS programs that enhance safety outcomes and organizational culture. Responsibilities include managing Health & Safety projects, advising clients, and mentoring teams. Candidates should have significant EHS experience and expertise in SIF prevention and safety culture transformation.

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Safety Transformation to join our team in Nashville, Tennessee (Or other locations). In this senior leadership role, you will design and deliver transformative EHS programs that improve safety outcomes, strengthen organizational culture, and drive measurable business performance for leading global clients.

You will manage transformational Health & Safety projects, interface with client stakeholders on strategy and oversight, ensure work is scoped and priced accurately, and deliver high-quality results aligned to scope, schedule, and budget—while generating meaningful impact.
This role is ideal for someone who brings strong project leadership and deep expertise in Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention, human performance, safety culture transformation, and enterprise risk management, helping clients achieve step-change improvements in safety performance.

Lead transformation at scale – Design and deliver EHS transformation programs that drive sustained improvements in safety outcomes and organizational performanceShape client strategy – Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating complex challenges into practical, high-impact solutionsAdvance SIF prevention & human performance – Implement leading approaches to critical risk management and human performance integrationStrengthen safety culture – Lead diagnostics and transformation initiatives that influence behavior and leadership effectivenessDrive business growth – Expand ERM’s Health & Safety services through client engagement, solution development, and thought leadershipBuild capability – Mentor client teams and ERM consultants to elevate leadership, technical expertise, and delivery excellence
Required
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)6-8 years (10–15+ years preferred) of progressive EHS experience, including significant time in industry leadership roles or consulting environmentsDemonstrated success leading large-scale EHS or safety culture transformationsDeep expertise in:Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention and critical risk managementHuman performance principles and applicationSafety governance, culture, and leadership
Preferred
Experience working across multiple industries such as manufacturing, technology, biopharma, power, or miningProven ability to influence and engage executive-level stakeholdersStrong background in consulting, including project scoping, pricing, and business developmentExperience developing executive-level deliverables such as strategy documents and board presentations
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of EHS transformation programs, including SIF prevention, human performance, and culture change initiativesConduct and oversee enterprise assessments, audits, and maturity diagnostics, translating insights into actionable roadmapsFacilitate executive workshops, leadership engagements, and field-based coaching to embed sustainable changeManage complex projects across industries and EHS disciplines, ensuring delivery excellence across scope, schedule, and budgetSupport scoping and pricing of projects aligned with client challenges and ERM standardsDevelop executive-level deliverables, including strategy documents, transformation roadmaps, and board-ready presentationsBuild strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor at all organizational levelsSupport and lead business development activities, including opportunity identification, proposal development, and client presentationsCollaborate across ERM’s global network to deliver integrated solutionsDrive innovation by advancing ERM methodologies in SIF, human performance, and safety culture transformation
