Job Description

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is seeking a Naturalist - Program Coordinator in Girdwood, AK. Responsibilities include overseeing educational programming, coordinating field trips, supervising volunteers, and assisting with animal care. The role requires developing interpretive media and facilitating events while tracking participation. The position may require varied hours, including weekends and holidays, and will not exceed 40 hours per week.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities).Interpretation and educationFoster connections with wildlife and the natural world around us while highlighting the mission of AWCCOversee booking and scheduling of field trip and outreach programming, meeting unique needs of schools, teachers, and students.Assist with staff scheduling to meet programming needsTrack and report on programming and participation numbersDevelop interpretive media using adobe illustratorProof read and review interpretive materials and educational programmingCoordinate and supervise education programsEducation program development and facilitationCoordinate educational events for publicServe as a frontline interpreter and educatorVolunteersRecruit and supervise AWCC volunteersTrack and report volunteer contribution dataAnimal CareFeed, water, clean, and train for animals used in educational programs as neededAssist with animal care feedings and cleans as needed or requestedResearchAssist with the Alaska Beluga Monitoring Partnership as a lead observer, ensuring minimum volunteer monitoring contributions are met.Other Duties and TasksSchedule will vary based on programming needs and season to include weekends, holidays, early morning, evenings, and over nights. Regular schedule will include weekends.Regular schedule will not exceed 40 hours per week. Exceptions exceeding 40 hours per week are subject to overtime.This position will serve as a backup Manager on DutyWillingness to support other departments as necessaryPerform other duties as assigned
