Role Description
The Gallery Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja, responsible for overseeing all aspects of gallery operations and programming. This role includes curating exhibitions, managing the display and rotation of artworks, and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience aligned with Seismic Consulting Group’s broader development and cultural objectives.


The Gallery
Director will manage relationships with artists, collectors, partners, and community stakeholders, as well as coordinate events, talks, and educational programs that promote engagement with the arts. Daily responsibilities include supervising gallery staff, overseeing budgets and reporting, driving marketing and outreach initiatives, and ensuring proper care, documentation, and cataloging of artworks. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams to integrate gallery activities into the organization’s strategic communications and community impact initiatives.
Qualifications

Strong gallery operations experience, including oversight of Gallery programming, visitor services, and day-to-day management.
Background in Arts Administration, with experience coordinating exhibitions, events, and stakeholder relationships.
Hands-on experience in an Art Gallery setting, including artwork handling, display standards, and collection care.
Academic or professional grounding in Art History and Art, with the ability to evaluate, interpret, and present diverse artworks.
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including supervising teams and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engagement with artists, clients, media, and the public.
Proficiency in basic budgeting, reporting, and use of digital tools for scheduling, documentation, and marketing.
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Arts Administration, Cultural Management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
Experience organizing public programs, workshops, or community engagement initiatives is highly desirable.
Ability to work on-site in Abuja, maintain a flexible schedule for events, and uphold inclusive, respectful, and ethical practices.
