Job Description Summary
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining specific areas of the Environmental program areas (air, water, hazardous waste and chemical management) for GE Gas Power to ensure that all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements are met. This position will also provide support to the EHS Leader and site Operations in maintaining compliance, and providing competent technical advice to ensure EHS management system requirements are met.Job Description

Essential Responsibilities
• As the Environmental Specialist, you will:
• Be responsible for supporting air, waste and water media compliance for the Schenectady site
• Provide technical advice and direction on environmental, health, or safety (EHS) challenges and issues at the Schenectady site for assigned program areas
• Support site permitting and emissions inventory calculations for air (and/or other media as assigned)
• Support reporting and licensing / permitting efforts to ensure regulatory compliance including RCRA, EPCRA, SPDES, and Title V.
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with local regulatory agencies
• Implement / modify EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing, new, and proposed environmental regulations for assigned program areas
• Develop and lead training programs for assigned program areas
• Provide project management as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance
• Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems to assure compliance
• Provide EHS guidance and support as required for all elements of EHS Management
• Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans
• Track site progress against EHS metrics and goals. Participate in EHS compliance and program audits

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health; Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university and with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety OR High School diploma/ GED with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety.

• Experience / general competence with Microsoft Office Suite tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance experience

• Ability to communicate cross-functionally and work independently
• Open communication style with the ability to develop team relationships
• Strong technical writing skills

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $99,200.00 - $132,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10 % variable incentive compensation.
• The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
