Job Description
GFT is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern in Philadelphia, PA, from mid-May to mid-August. The role involves assisting in planning studies, collaborating with senior planners, and engaging with the community on transportation projects. Candidates should be enrolled in a relevant program and have an interest in transportation planning. The position offers mentorship and the potential for full-time employment. Compensation ranges from $21.00 to $28.00 per hour.

What you'll be challenged to do:
During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing planning services for a wide variety of transportation projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship by experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Assist in preparing basic planning studies and gathering data for capital planning activities.
• Collaborate with senior planners and project managers on various transportation projects.
• Participate in community engagement by attending public meetings and collecting stakeholder input.
• Support the development of reports, presentations, and documentation related to the capital program.
What you'll bring to our firm:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A demonstrated interest in transportation planning through prior internships, work experience, or applied academic coursework.
• Basic understanding of transportation planning principles and practices.
• Experience using Microsoft Office suite and basic graphics software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
What we prefer you bring:
• Familiarity with transportation modeling software or GIS applications.
• Prior experience or coursework related to transportation planning or transit-oriented projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
