National Gypsum is seeking a Green Building Specialist to develop and manage EHS policies, ensure compliance with regulations, and lead safety initiatives at their Westwego, LA location. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety Management, 3-5 years of related experience, and knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Gold Bond Building Products, LLC.
Job Description
• Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and administer company EHS policies and programs.
• Monitor and revise ongoing updates in EHS regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
• Ensure site EHS training is current and in compliance with EPA, OSHA, and other local, state, or federal regulatory requirements.
• Manage storm water, water intake, site waste disposal, and title V air permit compliance.
• Lead the development of safe and environmentally sound work procedures per corporate guidelines.
• Manage the EHS inspection program for facilities, machinery, safety equipment, stormwater, and SPCC.
• Review plans and specifications for projects and construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all environmental, health, and safety requirements have been met.
• Lead the plant Safety Committee ensuring representation from all departments.
• Provide development opportunities as necessary for all site associates in EHS leadership, knowledge, training, observations, inspections, investigations, etc.
Requirements
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferably in Environmental, Health & Safety Management.
• Three to five years related experience and/or training in the EHS field.
• Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards, EPA Air, Water & Waste Regulations.
• MSHA training (24 hours), required; MSHA Certified Trainer, a plus.
• Excellent communication and group presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance, and advice is accurate, timely, and effective.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
