Position Summary:
The Field Safety Technician is responsible for conducting internal compliance audits, periodic inspections, and monitoring of safety compliance at World Oil plants and facilities. The Field Safety Technician coordinates with other departments to ensure compliance measures are implemented consistently across all locations. This role reports to the Health and Safety Director and completes essential duties in the Safety Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Conducts and documents safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and evaluates potential hazardous in the workplace.
Implements corrective action measures found during inspections/audits.
Ensures field compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to minimize occupational injuries, illnesses, and environmental impact.
Participates in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) sessions and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
Responsible for conducting and documenting fire extinguisher inspections, eyewash/shower inspections, fall arrest systems, and other Cal-OSHA required inspection requirements.
Conducts regular job walks, monitoring workplace safety and policy compliance.
Participates in accidents and incidents investigations and ensures compliance with implemented corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Collaborates with management, supervisors, and employees to implement safety improvement initiatives.
Participates in emergency response drills and coordinates with local emergency responders to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
Monitors compliance and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensures appropriate PPE is available at all facilities.
Observe worksite safety during plant shut-downs/turn-arounds and other project work.
Other Functions:
Monitor First Aid kit inventory.
Support uniform delivery and inventory.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school degree required.
1-3 years of experience in safety or related field.
Proficiency in using safety software, such as incident tracking, safety management, and safety training software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, communicate, and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
The skill in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
The skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
The skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and speaking.
The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in safety, in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
This role is expected to travel locally: Regularly 25% - 50%
This role is expected to use the following machines, tools, and equipment: Office 365, computers, communication devices, safety software, and others as assigned.
This role may be exposed to the following physical conditions:
Hazardous physical conditions: Seldom 10% - 25%
Atmospheric conditions: Seldom 10% - 25%
Hazardous materials: Seldom 10% - 25%
Intense noise: Seldom 10% - 25%
This role may be required to use PPE on hands, head, feet, face, or body: Regularly 75%
