Farm Crew Member / Sustainable Agriculture Worker

About Us:

Long Future Farms () is pioneering regenerative agriculture on 446 acres of farmland in Cobleskill, New York. Our agroforestry and silvopasture systems integrate trees, shrubs, and livestock to enhance soil health, sequester carbon, and produce nutritious food.

We’ve planted many nut and fruit trees along with shade and forage-producing trees for livestock. We raise 100% grass-fed & finished cattle alongside pasture-raised chickens. Our humane, responsible grazing practices reflect our commitment to land stewardship and sustainability.

Your Role:

As a Farm Crew Member, you’ll maintain our chestnut, hazelnut, and silvopasture fields. Your days will be filled with operating machinery (50% of your time) and hands-on land maintenance, directly supporting the growth of our thriving agroforestry system.

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitoring plant health
• Planting and seeding large-scale tree and shrub agroforestry system
• Mowing and clearing in alleys and around trees
• Manual work, such as removing rocks and repairing fencing
• Small construction jobs
• Seeding and mulching
• Compost application and production
• Woodchip application
• Road improvements
• Invasive species management
• Loading and hauling
• Assist with livestock management
• Assist with equipment maintenance
• General farm tidying & upkeep
• Engage with visitors, sharing our mission and farm experience

What We’re Looking For:
• Passion for regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming
• Hands-on experience with heavy farm machinery
• Valid driver’s licence
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Equipment maintenance is a huge plus
• Loading and hauling experience a plus
• Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a love for the outdoors
• Excitement to sit on a mower for many hours (when needed)

Compensation:
• $17.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
• We are open to hiring
• part-time or full-time basis
• single season (April/May to October only)
