Vicinity Centres is hiring a Climate and Environment Associate Analyst in Chadstone, VIC, Australia. The role involves supporting climate performance measurement, environmental reporting, and sustainability initiatives. Job summary:

The Climate and Environment Associate Analyst, plays a key role in supporting the Senior Manager, Climate and Environment in measuring Vicinity’s environment and climate performance and contributing to the achievement of Vicinity’s environmental objectives. This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of Vicinity’s key performance ratings programs, NABERS and Green Star, and metrics for Vicinity’s public sustainability, climate and environment disclosures. The Climate and Environment Associate Analyst will also contribute to the coordination and implementation of Vicinity’s strategies for net zero, climate, circular economy and waste, and biodiversity.

Key accountabilities

Data management
• Collecting and collating greenhouse gas emissions, environmental and sustainability related data, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
• We seek an individual with an aptitude and passion for MS Excel and a love of data and analytics. The role has an element of manual data entry of environmental data and metrics and will work with internal and external stakeholders in the adoption of new methods and/or platforms to drive efficiencies and reduce manual data handling in the future.

Environmental reporting
• Providing accurate, timely reporting in compliance with regulatory and other reporting requirements (i.e. Vicinity’s Annual Report, GRESB, NGER, AASB S2).

Quality and continuous improvement focus
• Working with the Senior Manager, Climate and Environment to drive continuous improvement in data management and reporting and to support the assurance process of environmental metrics.

Certifications program support
• Support Vicinity’s NABERS and Green Star performance ratings program, including collaborating with consultants and internal stakeholders on the successful delivery of ratings. This includes data collection and collation and, in the case of Green Star, the preparation of submissions under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Climate and Environment.

Stakeholder engagement
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders including operations, procurement, data science and engineering, consultants, regulators, tenants and joint venture partners on Vicinity’s climate and environment program and initiatives.

Experience & Capabilities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (what you have done)
• A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field, is essential.
• Recent graduate up with up to three years’ work experience gained in in consulting or an in-house role.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE (what you need to know)
• Knowledge of/experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. NGER, AASB S2, GRESB, SBTi, TCFD, TNFD).
• An understanding of/experience with NABERS and Green Star Performance Ratings preferred.
• Experience in, or understanding of, climate, biodiversity/nature, circular economy topics highly regarded.

CAPABILITIES (what you can do)
• Excellent consultation and communication (both written and verbal) skills, with a willingness and drive to build strong relationships and develop trust.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work to tight and moving deadlines.
• Exposure to visualisation software such as Tableau.
