Job Description
Lee Enterprises is seeking a full-time Climate Reporter for the Winston-Salem Journal in North Carolina. The role involves covering climate change and environmental issues, producing compelling digital stories, and building sources. Funded by a grant from 1Earth Fund, the position emphasizes insight into complex topics, with experience in climate reporting preferred. CLIMATE/ENVIRONMENT REPORTER, WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. The Winston-Salem Journal, a Lee Enterprises company, is hiring a tenacious and experienced reporter to cover climate change and the environment in Northwest North Carolina.
The full-time position is funded by a grant from 1Earth Fund, a private nonprofit foundation that helps news organizations provide readers with information about climate change.
The ideal candidate will be able to explain and bring insight to readers on the complex issues surrounding climate change and build sources to produce daily and enterprise stories. The reporter must also have the ability to develop alternate story forms and to produce compelling digital storytelling by working with photojournalists, graphic artists and videographers. Drone certification is a plus, though not required. Experience covering climate change and the environment is a plus. The position will be based in Winston-Salem.
