We're looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced Climate & Environment adviser to join our team in the Midlands and East of England to help us lead the way in sustainability and environmental improvements.

What it's like to work here

You'll be part of our Specialist Delivery Team, working in partnership with our places and people across the Midlands and East of England region.

The National Trust's Specialist Delivery Team is the home to specialists in every field of our work. We work as a team and in partnership with operational, estates and commercial teams to deliver our ambitious People and Place Strategy.

As this role covers the Midlands and East or England region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home.

Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

What you'll be doing

As an integral part of the Specialist Delivery Team, you'll play a crucial role in embedding climate and environmental standards across the Midlands and East of England. You will be responsible for providing expert advice on managing carbon; climate change risks, impacts and adaptation; water (including sewage systems); energy; waste; and natural resources.

Your proactive approach will enable our places to meet their carbon targets, adapt to climate change, and reduce risk of pollution, as part of the National Trust's Climate and Environmental Management System (CEMS).

As part of the Midlands and East of England Climate and Environment Team you will be responsible to leading our Climate RACE of Reduce, Adapt, Capture and Engage. You'll provide expert strategic advice on sustainability, for our operations and projects. You'll support our places in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards, and lead training programmes to elevate the skills and knowledge of the teams. You'll champion innovative best practices in climate action and drive continual improvement.

Who we're looking for

Significant, post qualification practical experience with a sound knowledge in all aspects of sustainability. Including the management of carbon, energy, waste, natural resources, land use and buildings. Demonstrable experience in collaboratively leading on climate and environmental risk management planning and procedures for others to implement Data literacy skills, including data analysis, and experience in undertaking and commissioning research - embracing change and challenge Experience of delivery through inspirational and innovative professional approaches and skills Demonstrable experience in influencing senior stakeholders through excellent communication. Experience in supporting operational activities within an Environmental Management System such as ISO14001 The package
