Job Description

Parsons Commercial Technology Group is seeking a full-time Associate Environmental Scientist / Safety Technician in California. The role involves supporting field operations, conducting safety inspections, and enforcing health and safety programs. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in environmental consulting is preferred.
About the position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Associate Scientist / Safety Technician to join our team! We currently seek a full time Professional who will focus on supporting the coordination of field operations and serve as the office's health and safety representative. In all circumstances, they must be able to take prime responsibility for the execution of the work. The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities
• Performs various office tasks requiring the application of basic scientific principles and fundamental theories.
,
• Researches and compiles background data in support of an environmental project.
,
• Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to help ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
,
• Reviews and analyzes data collected in environmental sampling programs.
,
• Maintain, promote and enforce Parsons' health and safety program.
,
• Conduct Near Miss and Incident investigations and perform site safety inspections.
,
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in a curriculum related to the assigned discipline (ie. science, civil, environmental, chemical, geological engineering, safety or similar programs).
,
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
,
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
,
• Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently.
,
• A valid class 5 driver's license.

Nice-to-haves
• 3+ years of relevant work experience.
,
• Preference to candidates with 1 or more years experience in the environmental consulting sector.
,
• Experience working on downstream oil and gas sites would be considered an asset.
