About the position

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor specializing in the sustainability of natural resources. The successful candidate will develop a robust research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and engage with various stakeholders in natural resource management.

Responsibilities
• Develop and carry out a vigorous externally funded research program and publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

• Teach graduate and undergraduate students, contributing to the department's instructional mission.

• Recruit and mentor students from at-risk, first generation, and/or underserved communities.

• Contribute to outreach and service functions of the department, college, university, and professional societies.

• Promote an inclusive and diverse climate within the campus and associated communities.

Requirements
• PhD in ecology, biology, environmental science, or closely related field required by position start date.

• Demonstrated potential for publications in peer-reviewed journals.

• Experience in mentoring and outreach to at-risk, first generation, or underserved students.

• Experience in graduate student training and curriculum development.

• Ability to write extramural grants.

Nice-to-haves
• Expertise in advanced quantitative methods or data-model linkages.

• Experience in collaborating with tribal/state/federal natural resource agencies.
