Job Description

The University of New England is seeking Adjunct Faculty for its online M.S. in Climate Change Leadership Program. Responsibilities include facilitating online learning, mentoring students, and providing expert knowledge in leadership and sustainability. Candidates should have a Master’s degree, online teaching experience, and a passion for education. The role requires active engagement in the online course portal and virtual office hours, contributing to student success in a supportive environment.
Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE’s online programs. The role of the faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing for students to derive the maximum benefits from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online MS in Climate Change Leadership (CCL) Program.

Responsibilities


Provide expert, graduate-level knowledge in leadership, change management, and sustainability practices.
Guide students through their educational experience while upholding the CPS commitment to student success.
Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner, within 24 hours.
Facilitate class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of five times per week.
Host a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week and at least two synchronous class sessions per semester.
Demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Show a willingness to analyze and apply best practices in online education for this subject area.






Qualifications


Experience teaching online in an educational setting, with demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment and a passion for teaching strategy and sustainability.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies/Policy, or a related field required; PhD preferred.
Minimum of three years of teaching experience in the subject area.
Desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings.
Expertise in online teaching and willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education.
Experience using the Brightspace/D2L learning management system preferred.
