Job Description

Environment America seeks a Director of Climate Campaigns to lead its Global Warming Solutions Team. This role involves coalition building, media representation, campaign strategy development, research, and fundraising. The ideal candidate should have experience in social change or the climate sector, strong communication skills, and a results-oriented mindset. The position is ideally based in Washington, D.C., but can also be in Chicago, Boston, or Denver.

Join Environment America as we seek to strengthen our commitment to combating climate change as our Director of Climate Campaigns. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead our Global Warming Solutions Team and collaborate with national program members, local organizers, and key allies to drive impactful campaigns for a sustainable future. Your efforts will focus on advancing policies to eliminate fossil fuel use, promote building electrification and carbon-free transportation, and reduce air pollution from power plants.

You will be the public representative of our climate initiatives, engaging directly with decision-makers, media outlets, partner organizations, and donors.

Key Responsibilities:

Coalition Building: Act as the voice for Environment America within significant climate coalitions. Expand our partnerships to include diverse supporters from across the political spectrum and collaborate with state organizations to create targeted strategies.Media and Communications: Craft reports, fact sheets, news releases, blogs, and op-eds to effectively communicate our message. Serve as our national spokesperson, representing Environment America in the media and articulating our vision to various audiences.Campaign Coordination and Development: Lead the development and execution of campaign strategies. Work closely with senior leadership to align on strategic opportunities and actions.Research: Transform complex data into insightful and clear conclusions that resonate with decision-makers and the general public.Fundraising: Enhance our program by securing funds from foundations and individual donors. This includes nurturing relationships with current donors and broadening our donor base to encompass new supporters.Recruitment and Management: Participate in recruiting and managing interns and staff. Collaborate with leadership to design and conduct training programs for team members at all levels.Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of leadership in citizen-based social change or the climate sector and should demonstrate:

A deep belief in the power of citizen engagement and a clear understanding of effective field organizing strategies.A results-oriented approach with a strong goal-driven mentality, complemented by excellent public speaking, writing, and analytical skills.A successful background in fundraising at both large and small scales, including experience with charitable organizations.Confidence and proficiency in being a public figure with the ability to speak compellingly in high-pressure situations.Compensation and Benefits:

The starting salary for this role ranges from $42,000 to $60,000 depending on relevant experience. Location:

This position is ideally based in Washington, D.C., but can also be situated in Chicago, IL, Boston, MA, or Denver, CO.
